Guide Dogs - Tape Mailing

You couldn’t imagine a more devoted guide dog than Yarran.
Just listen to this true story of courage, told by his owner, George Herridge.

Dear Mr Samples

You could say that every guide dog is a hero. But every so often, I hear about one who is truly inspiring. Ever since you first supported us a year ago, I’ve been searching for such a story to show you how utter1y devoted a guide dog can be. And now you can hear it, first hand.

Guide Dog Yarran won the first-ever BBC TV Animal Award for bravery last December. Now his owner George Herridge has recorded on tape the events of the terrible day when Yarran was attacked and seriously injured by another dog.

I’m enclosing a copy of it for you to listen to. I think you’ll find it as inspiring as I did to hear all about the extraordinary courage of Yarran and the devotion he shows to George. After you’ve heard his story, I hope you’ll also be moved to help Guide Dogs again.

A remarkable real-life story.

On the tape, you’ll hear George describe how the wounded Yarran ignored his own injuries and struggled for nearly an hour to guide him safely home. Yarran is certainly a hero, and as George says, he thoroughly deserves his award from the BBC.

More heroes wanted.

Yarran’s remarkable story shows you how guide dogs are committed even beyond the call of duty. Every single one is a hero to their owner.
