Water Aid - Cold Recruitment

Would you gamble with your child’s life
by giving her dirty water to drink?

Dear Mr Sample,

Nobody would take such a risk if there was any alternative. But some mothers simply have no option. Take Mrs Amina in Uganda: “I’ve been ill as the water’s not clean” she told us. “I’m scared to feed it to my babies, but I have no choice.”

Every day she must gamble on her fifteen-month-old daughter Maria being infected with dysentery and other deadly diseases. It’s a gamble that often proves fatal. Where they live, one out of every six children doesn’t live to see their fifth birthday.

In Malawi, four of Mrs Kayisi’s children have been killed by water related diseases, leaving only one son alive. This is the shocking truth about dirty water. It kills young children all around the world.

Here’s another shocking fact. It doesn’t take much to stop tragedies like these. For just £2 a month, WaterAid can provide clean water for a vulnerable child and make such deaths a thing of the past. And you can give it simply by filling in the form, or picking up the phone.

Would you struggle for hours every day
to carry killer water home?

Your water is clean and on tap. In Ethiopia, Mrs Batti’s water was not only filthy, it lay hours away from her village. Every mouthful had to be carried back home on people’s heads or on their backs. “I used to devote five hours a day to fetch water” she says.

For as little as £2 a month, you can help someone have clean water nearer to hand. WaterAid is the UK’s only major charity dedicated exclusively to the provision of safe domestic water, sanitation and hygiene promotion to the world’s poorest people. It has already helped over seven million people in over 15 countries in Africa and Asia. We’re glad to say Mrs Batti is one of them. Today, clean water is within easy reach for her.
